This travel vlog follows the whole journey, chapter by chapter, from board the train at Howrah to that quiet morning when we said goodbye to Srinagar. Snow-laden pine forests, a frozen Dal Lake, the Gulmarg gondola climbing over white meadows, the Thajiwas Glacier trail at Sonamarg and a full Srinagar day with the Tulip Garden and the Mughal Gardens.

Kolkata to Jammu
Pulling out of Howrah
The vlog opens with the familiar clatter of wheels. We board the scheduled train at Howrah and settle in for two easy days on the rails, watching the plains blur past before the first cold fingers of the mountains appear. Train food is on you, but the anticipation is free.
Jammu to Pahalgam
Welcome to paradise
Pickup at Jammu Tawi, and then the drive everyone remembers. The road climbs into the valley, pine forests gather close, and the first proper snowfall usually lands somewhere around here. Dinner and the first night go down in a warm Pahalgam hotel room.
Pahalgam to Srinagar
Chasing valleys
A full morning of Pahalgam: Aru Valley, Betaab Valley and Chandanwari, all of it dusted white and almost empty. The Tavera rides are included in this package. On the way to Srinagar we stop at the Pampore saffron fields, the Awantipur ruins and a cricket bat factory, then follow the Lidder River out of the hills.
Gulmarg day trip
The white meadow
Gulmarg in winter is a different planet. Our vehicle stays at the designated parking, so we explore the inner meadow on foot with snow crunching underfoot. The optional gondola, Asia highest cable car, lifts you up to Kungdoor and then Apharwat, and that view is the shot of the whole vlog.
Sonamarg day trip
Walking on the glacier trail
The drive to Sonamarg threads through villages, paddy fields and the Sindh River, and then the Thajiwas Glacier trail opens up about four kilometres from town. A local taxi or pony ride gets you deeper in, and the camera stays out the whole time. Evening brings us back to Srinagar.

Dal Lake, gardens and tulips
The big one. We step into the World Famous Tulip Garden, wander Chashme Shahi, Nishat and Shalimar, climb up to Shankaracharya Temple and Pari Mahal, and finish with a one hour Shikara ride on Dal Lake that is included in the package. Floating gardens, houseboats and that famous quiet.
Kashmir to Kolkata
Until next winter
Check out after breakfast, transfer to Jammu Tawi or the airport, and the two day train ride back to Howrah closes the vlog. Ten days, hundreds of clips, one very cold camera roll, and a valley that quietly asked us to come back next winter.

Things We Learned On The Road
- Carry a postpaid SIM. Prepaid connections do not work in Jammu and Kashmir.
- A non AC car is provided throughout, and the vehicle stays at the parking at Gulmarg and Sonamarg.
- Original photo ID is mandatory for hotels and travel, such as Passport, Driving Licence or Voter ID.
- The driver is not a guide. He drops you at every sightseeing point and you explore on your own.
- Pony rides, the Gulmarg gondola and the local union vehicles are optional and payable on the spot.
- In heavy snowfall the vehicle travels only as far as the driver considers safe, and diverted routes may cost extra.
- Child policy: below 5 years complimentary, 5 to 8 years half charge, 8 years and above full charge.
